Abstract
Beyond being the means of transmitting data in wired systems, it’s important to think about how wires affect the data transmission in the same way we think of Path Loss
It’s helpful in this way to think of cables as a filter with a particular capacitance and inductance depending on the material chosen for their construction.
Where the inductance and capacitance both act to filter out frequencies. The diagram above helps us decide the Transfer Function of our Coaxial Cables for example

Power Efficiency
Cables are bound to lose power over distance, especially the likes of Coaxial cables which need repeaters at relatively regular intervals, as well as high power amplifiers We used to use Vacuum tubes but now we use MOSFET (RF) amplifiers as they’re less noisy more efficient and in general a better solution
